I started my graphic design training at this school and would like to share my experiences – with all the ups and downs that come with it. Looking back, the positives clearly outweigh the negatives, and I'm grateful for my time there. The training itself is practical and incredibly diverse. From classic layout design to branding and typography to digital media and motion graphics, the courses cover many important areas. It may seem like a lot at first, but it settles in over time. That's why you grow and develop your own personal skills! Of course, there are also areas that I believe could be improved. Especially in areas like animation or 3D design, even deeper specialization would be desirable, and sometimes you notice that the school reaches its organizational limits when accepting many new students. Nevertheless, they are constantly working on developing the courses – and the instructors try to offset these challenges with professional support. Despite these minor criticisms, I am convinced: the training is a worthwhile investment. The costs may seem high at first glance, but you gain not only in-depth knowledge and practical experience, but also valuable contacts in the creative industry. Furthermore, you can apply for student loans (BAföG) for this program, among other things. Another major advantage is the community among the students. You meet many creative, talented people with whom you can exchange ideas, implement projects, and grow together. These contacts and friendships are at least as valuable to me today as the lessons themselves. Overall, I can say: The program not only helped me develop my creative skills to a professional level, but also further ignited my passion for design and art. It opened doors for me that I probably would never have reached without this experience.

My time at the design school was very disappointing. On paper, the program seemed promising – in reality, it was quite different. My classes were repeatedly canceled, and I had the impression that organizational problems weren't being addressed seriously. I found the way we students were treated particularly difficult. When I voiced criticism, I felt I wasn't taken seriously. Conversations often seemed pointless, and sometimes I felt ridiculed or belittled. Some teachers also seemed overwhelmed, and I felt exposed in certain situations. Subjectively, I never felt truly supported or that anyone took responsibility for our education. Given the high fees, this was especially disappointing. Looking back, I can say that I often felt abandoned during my studies. From my personal perspective, the program was not only academically unsatisfying but also emotionally draining. I experienced psychological pressure as a result.

I completed my graphic design apprenticeship over the past three years. You get a broad overview of different areas, although from the second year onwards the focus shifts heavily towards digital work, and unfortunately, analog techniques are largely absent. It's normal that not every subject or area sparks the same enthusiasm in everyone. But I still found it valuable to explore the various fields, as it made it very clear to me where I definitely DON'T want to work later on, haha. Personally, I would have liked to see the graphic design students also receive instruction in digital drawing, or at least some kind of cross-curricular course involving games (if that were even possible). The instructors are all very friendly and competent, and if you have questions, you should definitely ask them. If you're hesitant to ask during class, you can always do so afterward, during breaks, or via email. Everyone is very helpful, but you do have to show initiative. Some are also up for cookie and cake breaks now and then.
