DFB Youth League: Lübeck with morale

JFV Lübeck turns deficit and wins 3:2 against Halle

JFV Lübeck won its last home game of the season in the DFB U19 Youth League despite an early deficit. On the penultimate matchday, coach Berkan Algan's team prevailed 3:2 against Hallescher FC after being 0:1 down at halftime. In sporting terms, the match no longer had any impact for either team: both were already confirmed as relegated before kick-off.

After early setback, Lübeck gets into the game through mentality

The start was unfavorable from Lübeck's point of view. Romeo Trinko put the guests ahead in the 8th minute, and JFV was 0:1 down at halftime. Coach Berkan Algan later described the turning point mainly through his team's reaction and the work of the past days: "After the cup win, a lot of psychological work was required at first. But the team accepted that excellently and showed incredible morale and character today."

Algan also assessed the deficit from a sporting perspective. Lübeck did not get into the game well at first and "deserved" to be behind. At the same time, he emphasized that his team stabilized after about 20 minutes and was then "clearly the better team." In his analysis, he mainly cited three factors that carried the turnaround: consistent pressing, good transition play in both directions, and significantly increased intensity in the duels.

The goals come in Lübeck's strong phase

The fact that Lübeck only put its better minutes on the scoreboard after the break fits the course of the game.

Taylan Batur scored the equalizer to make it 1:1 in the 67th minute. Shortly afterwards, the game finally turned: Lens Mbouendeu scored the 2:1 in the 71st minute and added the 3:1 in the 81st minute. Within a few minutes, the deficit turned into a two-goal lead.

Halle did reduce the deficit again when William Seel scored to make it 3:2 in the 90th minute. However, this did not change JFV's home victory.

Table without significance – Signal effect before the season finale

In the table, Lübeck remains sixth despite the success: 13 games, 13 points and 23:52 goals. Hallescher FC is in fifth place with 16 points (32:30 goals). Since both teams were already confirmed as relegated, the result had no consequences for the standings – but for Lübeck it was more than just a side note.

After the final whistle, Algan also referred to the mental context of the previous week. The cup final had "still had some after-effects," he said, and highlighted his team's reaction: "That's why I'm all the more pleased with the team's reaction today. That was really a very good performance." At the same time, the focus is on the last game of the season in Bielefeld. According to the coach, Lübeck will have to do without Yannic and Adam there, who each received their fifth yellow card against Halle.

Relegation is certain, the sporting record remains tough. But in the last home game, Lübeck showed a clear response after an early deficit – carried by a more stable game plan after the opening phase and a final phase in which the best phase of the match was also reflected in the result.
